This summer, Kevin Elliott Counseling Inc. will be offering a therapy group for teen girls called The Butterfly Group.

Low self-esteem in teenage girls has long been associated with at-risk behaviors.

This therapy group is being offered to help meet a need that has been recognized in the Champaign- Urbana area for a teen girl's group led by professional skilled therapists. This group will help the teen girl's grow stronger in self esteem and ability to make healthy life choices.

  •  Self Esteem
  •  Dating or Not Dating
  •  Grades
  •  Fitting In or Not Fitting In
  •  Weight and Appearance
  •  Getting Things Done On Time
  •  Relationships with Friends, Parents and Teachers

Girls often struggle with poor body image, social pressure to maintain certain appearances, and low confidence in their academic abilities during adolescence. In this girls group, therapists Angela Patton, MS and Jennifer Bovee, LCSW will focus on helping each girl to feel better about herself, to have good relations with her peers, and to make healthy choices.

The goal of The Butterfly Group is to assist each member in recognizing the butterfly within her and to help her, through the group therapy process, to spread her wings and fly.

WHEN

The therapy group will meet for an hour and a half on a weekday evening for nine weeks. The group is currently scheduled to begin the week of June 7, or as soon as enough members are enrolled and ready to go. The day and time will be scheduled with the input of the members and parents.

For those interested in being a member of The Butterfly Group, or in referring someone to the group, please contact Kevin Elliott Counseling's Champaign office by telephone at 217-398-9066, or use this contact information form.

COST / PAYMENT OPTIONS

The cost for the group is $540. Payment is accepted by check or credit card or insurance reimbursement.
Group therapy is covered by most insurance plans, although the individual may need to have a private session with the therapist in order to determine need under some plans. Kevin Elliott Counseling Inc. is contracted by virtually all local insurance plans and social service agencies.

Self-payment options are also available, with a sliding scale, to assist those with financial hardship. Stacie Caballero, Champaign Office Administrator, will assist clients and parents in determining payment options.
